Who We Are

At the True Hope Foundation, we work to eliminate child and human trafficking and empower its survivors to heal, hopefully making it become history through the care we provide for them. We endeavor to build a world where all individuals are free from the shackles of exploitation and oppression. Our actions embody the principles of justice, compassion, ethical behavior, and human rights, as we work to end the exploitation of individuals and communities affected by human trafficking in Sierra Leone. At The True Hope Foundation, we strongly believe in making people's lives better, especially the vulnerable and disadvantaged population, through our poverty alleviation programs, as there is a direct correlation between human trafficking and poverty. Vulnerable populations, often live in poverty-stricken areas, are more susceptible to exploitation and trafficking, due to factors such as lack of education, limited economic opportunities and desperation for basic needs. Economic empowerment initiatives can help mitigate this risk by providing alternative livelihoods and resources to at risk communities. That is why we have decided to make this one of our main pillars in our organization.

The True Hope Foundation started with an experience I had when travelling to Sierra Leone on the 7th of February 2024. Though I consider it to be a calling due to the occurrences or coincidences, I met a gentleman on an airplane who happened to be a Sierra Leonean, who was also traveling to Sierra Leone. At the stop in Burkina Faso, He asked if he could sit by me, and I said of course. In the depth of the conversation, he got to tell me that he is a survivor of human trafficking. He took his time to tell me his experience and ordeal that by the time we were landing at the Lungi International Airport, my mind was completely blown, and I was in tears deep down inside. Something I did that I will never forget or regret was to grab the golden opportunity, not just to help him financially and morally on that day, I made sure I took his contact to follow up on his well-being.

He is our model! Today we are like brothers. He does not allow a day to go by without checking on me. For me, that was a great opportunity to bless someone and be blessed in return. I am forever grateful to God for giving me that opportunity, and I am also glad that I did not miss it. Today his life has completely changed for the better and that encounter, or experience, was a total game changer, not just for me, but for all those who love and care for humanity. Today I am proud to say that the True Hope Foundation has fifteen vibrant, dedicated, passionate, and skilled members, with a mission sprouting from that one inhumane, yet priceless experience. We are fighting to see that every child who has been trafficked can experience a powerful transformation in his or her life. We seek to make sure these survivors get free medical help, education, food, clothing, good communities, families, and access to basic needs, like clean water, accommodation, and psychosocial support. We ensure a safe environment for survivors of human trafficking to live in with emotional support until they can thrive be fully ready to move forward with life. Our plan is to fully address the root causes of this heinous crime to the best of our ability which include poverty, lack of access to basic life needs, hunger, low-quality education, and lack of awareness about the dangers of child and human trafficking, lack of life skills, financial literacy programs, healthcare support and the like. We will be joining our heads together to combat human trafficking and eradicate poverty in Sierra Leone and beyond, walking with sister organizations and partners who are like minded and in the fight. I must say this we are only coming out in the open now, but we have been in the making for decades. We knew that this was going to happen one day, but we just did not know when or how, so I am not surprised that God has decided to put us together once again, so I’d like to take this opportunity to ask you kindly to join us in this fight to put an end to child/human trafficking in our global community for good.
